Electric's packaging design features in industry
renowned publications

"Often banal, sometimes brilliant, and occasionally groundbreaking, packaging – as nearly everything we buy is packaged – is an aspect of design that we encounter more than almost any other." Edward Denison.

Electric Senior Designer Matt Shaw’s design and development of a packaging concept for geographic information software company Geoplan, is featured across an exclusive double page spread in Edward Denison’s publication – Print and Production Finishes for Packaging. Those selected must “…inspire, inform and motivate designers engaged in packaging and thereby help stimulate future design projects.”

For those who know Matt, comments in the article such as, ‘attention to detail'; ‘pristine finish in line with the product’s reputation’; ‘a strong sense of brand identity'; 'to prevent prohibitively high manufacturing and printing setup costs’; ‘the brand identity has been assertively and skillfully imposed’; will come as no surprise.

Geoplan’s managing director, John Taylor, had this to say about the project: “We have worked with Electric for over five years, their strength lies in a straightforward, honest and business aware approach aligned to a solid streak of creativity and a desire to do the job right.”

“We didn’t simply want to re-badge and gift wrap the old company. To achieve this, we ensured that everyone was involved at every stage and Electric spent considerable time understanding who we are and what we represent as well as becoming immersed in our product and offer, a challenge in itself. The outcome is a clear and cohesive suite of materials that our people and our customers identify with.”

Packaging design is a core skill here at Electric and we are very proud that Matt’s expertise is being recognised.
